The League was founded in November, 1994. The League is a voluntary union of credit consumer cooperatives of citizens and other non-profit mutual financial organizations and their unions and it is based on the voluntary, equality of members, self-regulation, publicity and legality principles.

Mission: to develop Russian credit consumer cooperation as the basis of civil society

Objectives:

· to facilitate the creation of real economic democracy in Russian society

· to develop regional and national infrastructure of Russian credit union Movement and  to provide comprehensive assistance to the members in the framework of legislature in force

· to enter in international cooperative Movement as a representative of Russian Cooperative Movement  

· to provide equal possibilities for credit unions and their associations to participate in Russian and international credit union Movement

· to consolidate economic, social and legal status of credit unions to increase availability of financial services for wide sections of population

Directions of activities:

· to develop the general strategy of credit cooperation Movement in Russia

· to represent and defend the interests of the members  - credit unions and their associations in state bodies and international

· to spread methods of credit training and its social, economic and democratic values

· to assist the creation adequate legal basis of activities and taxation of credit unions  

· to assist the creation of associations and other regional associations of credit unions ñîäåéñòâèå ñîçäàíèþ àññîöèàöèé è èíûõ ðåãèîíàëüíûõ îáúåäèíåíèé êðåäèòíûõ ñîþçîâ

· to develop and approve the system of quality standards activities of credit unions-members of the League, forms of registration of financial activities of credit unions  

· to advocate for ideas and principles of credit unions in Russia

· to develop and to put into practice educational programs for all practitioners of credit union Movement  

· to create the audit system of credit unions activities

· to assist the standardization of accounting and financial account of credit unions

· to participate in creation of system of loan and savings insurance for members of credit unions

· to assist the creation of financial infrastructure of credit union Movement  

· to assist the  creation of single information space of credit unions and their associations

The League represents Russian Credit Cooperation Movement in World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU)
